Fine Gael TD’s are uneasy over coalition with Fianna Fáil, where parties fail to agree over the new election of the Taoiseach in the 32nd Dáil and votes set to deadlock.

Enda Kenny will travel to Áras an Uachtaráin today to formally resign as Taoiseach if he is beaten in today’s vote, but will continue as caretaker Taoiseach until he is replaced.

It is expected that Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin and Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams will also be defeated when their names are put forward for nomination today.

Gardaí have seized a number of AK47 firearms, that are believed to have been in relation to the gun attack in Dublin’s Regency hotel, which claimed the life of David Byrne the month before.

The guns were found in a Garda operation in a car in Slane, Co Meath.

The driver of the car has been arrested and was taken into custody for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

4.US House Shooting

Five people have been shot dead at a house party in the US.

Four of the victims, including one man and three women, died at the scene in Pennsylvania, while another woman later died in hospital.

Two others are in a critical condition, and while no one has been taken into police custody following the incident, at least two suspects are on the run.

5.Man Attacked by Sticks

A man in his 90s has been beaten with sticks after a four-man gang attacked him in his rural home demanding money.

The shocking incident happened in the Balrath area of Co Meath at 8.15pm last night.

Gardai say four men armed with sticks went to the pensioner’s home and threatened him and beat him as they demanded cash from him.

The were all described as being 6ft tall and wearing dark clothing, with peaked caps and scarves covering their faces.
