6pm – Personal damages case denied – Emily Crowley
A circuit court judge denied a woman personal injury damages and said that the claimant was “telling blatant lies”
Esther Lamidi claimed that she was “unable to function in any way” to her consultant, but was videoed by a private investigator on the same day jogging across a street in Dublin.
Lamidi, who was driving unaccompanied with a provisional license accused a bus driver of breaking a stop line at Mountjoy Square.
However, the court heard that Lamidi ignored the driver beeping twice and failed to yield, while his vehicle was in control of the junction.
10am – Tipperary: Man killed in multi-vehicle crash – Orla McNabola
A man has died in a multi-vehicle collision on the M7 Dublin to Limerick road.
The car left the road at Ballyfinnan, near Birdhill in Co Tipperary at about 8pm last night.
Up to 12 cars skidded off the road around the same time during a heavy sleet shower.
An appeal for witnesses has been issued by the Gardaí.
12pm – Peacekeepers in Lebanon – Karen Gaffney
The Head of the United Nations peacekeeping force, Major General Michael Beary, has said that Lebanon’s military and intelligence are preventing the war in Syria from spreading over the border.
Concerns run high in country as the so-called ‘Islamic State’ may target the Unifil mission in the south of the country where an estimated 17 people are said to have been arrested on suspicion of terrorism.
Although there has been no specific threats from Jihadists towards the peacekeepers, about 380 Irish soldiers currently serve on the mission overseeing hostilities across the so-called “blue-line” that separates the military from the Lebanese army and Hezbollah.
11am – Graffiti Campaign – Lauren Ennis
Dublin City Council are launching a campaign today to show young people that graffiti is ‘not cool’ and that they can face criminal prosecution if they are caught doing it.
The ‘Think Don’t Tag’ campaign aims to raise awareness among school children and reduce the annual cost of 1 million euro that is spent removing graffiti each year.
The campaign will be launched at Mansion House in Dublin later today
